Vernon and Martha Tannahill
parents came to Cedine when
Vernon was only 2. He was raised
in a Christian home and became a
Christian at an early age. Martha
too was raised in a Christian home. Her father has been a pastor for over 50 years. They both committed their lives to serve the Lord in a fulltime basis.
Vernon and Martha met at Calvary Bible College, Kansas City, MO. While there they were active members in a church serving the African American community. Married in May 1979, they graduated from Calvary in May 1980.
Upon joining the ranks of Cedine, Vernon and Martha served as community missionaries in Franklin County, TN for 18 years. They held Bible clubs for children and teens, Bible studies for adults and were active in Cedine’s quizzing program during the school year. They continue to be involved in the quizzing program. They also helped in the camp ministry in the summer. Vernon served as waterfront director and Martha helped with childcare and in the office. In 1987 Vernon began assisting the Program Director in leading music and serving as MC for the evening chapels. In 1994, he became the Program Director and Martha helped him develop a Bible study series for the camp program. In 1999 they moved to Spring City, TN to be able to help in the office work and camping ministry. In spring of 2000 Vernon was named the Camp Director. He served in that capacity until August 2001 when the board named him the General Director of Cedine.
Currently Martha serves in the office doing the Conference and Retreat Registrations and is doing the menus and ordering for the food service department. Vernon continues as the General Director of Cedine Ministries and is also covering the Conference Director responsibilities, in the absence of a Conference Director.
They have four children and six grandchildren.
